Why Join the Band?

The 300-plus member Marching Band is an opportunity to give back to the University and work alongside some of the most dedicated students on campus.  Most members of the band consider their time spent with the Marching Band to be the best experience of their college lives, but it continues: you will be a part of a community that spans over a century of students!

Why Trombone?

On the field, the Trombones have a reputation within the band as one of the most skilled and hard-working sections.  Off the field, the Trombones are a close-knit group of friends that continues to bond throughout the school year and even after graduating.

Do I have time?

The reason many people are skeptical about joining the band is that they're not sure if they have the time.  Fortunately, the answer is almost always YES!  Rehearsals are only 90 minutes long, four days per week for the duration of the season.

More About the Band

The 117-year-old Minnesota Marching Band is a Big Ten-style Marching Band, meaning we place great emphasis on our history and traditions, while striving to innovate and entertain the large crowds that the conference is known for.   See the Marching Band Site for more information.
